The Video Vault #7

This video resonates so strongly with me - and my youth - that I can't even begin to figure out what to say about it. All I remember is playing this LP to DEATH when it came out - this was the anthem to my corner of the world.

In many ways, it still is.

I loved Bronski Beat when they first came on the scene. I remember being shocked that there could be such an openly gay pop group. It's kinda sad because they are just overlooked now. Pioneers like them, and to a lesser extent, Boy George, Dead or Alive, Erasure, etc. came out of a depressing era (AIDS, Reagan, Thatcher, etc). Regardless, Smalltown Boy is an incredible work of pop music.
